Description
I am a proud native of Mississippi. I attended Jackson State University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I then relocated to Dallas, TX where I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Methodist University. I have additional clinical experience with individual and group counseling during my time at Metrocare and Exult Healthcare.
The idea of starting counseling or seeking help can feel overwhelming, even frightening! I take a holistic and person-centered approach, acknowledging feelings and thoughts as they come, ensuring clients feel safe, heard, and valued. This being the foundation for establishing a strong therapeutic partnership. I believe in meeting clients where they are and offering the necessary support as they navigate through the beautiful journey of life.
I am skilled in working with diverse populations and a range of ages across the lifespan. I've had the opportunity of working in schools, assisting students with learning disabilities as they integrate into a general classroom setting. I have also worked with the families, supporting parents and children facing difficult behavioral issues. I have experience treating clients with anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, trauma/PTSD, grief, women’s issues, and more. I also have a passion for working with young adults who are undergoing life transitions.
I incorporate various techniques and strategies in the therapeutic alliance, with a concentration in Expressive Art Therapy, mindfulness, and meditative practices. I am passionate about introducing clients to creative ways of processing and expressing themselves in their healing journey.
I am enthusiastic about having the privilege of working with and supporting clients through their growth. Although it takes a great deal of work and commitment, this journey can be fun and enjoyable!
