Hi! I'm Tracy and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of New York. My preferred pronouns are she/hers/her. I am a second generation Indian-American woman. I received my Master of Arts and Master of Education in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College Columbia University, and my Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, an intersectional program that focuses on gender, race, and sexuality. I specialize in evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I am a TEAM-CBT Level 2 Clinician. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I am currently providing only video therapy sessions in New York State.
Previously, I provided home-based family therapy for New York born-and-bred families throughout Manhattan and Queens. I currently provide assessment, emotional support, and crisis intervention services for people who are incarcerated. In private practice, I have walked my clients through processing depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues, specifically with women of color and sexual minority clients who are facing workplace trauma. A lot of people believe that clients learn from their therapists, but I learn from my clients! As a non-native New York therapist who moved to this city 5 years ago, I have learned so much from working with Black, Afro- and Indo-Caribbean, and Latinx communities throughout the years. New York is truly beautiful to me because I was introduced to cultures and people that I did not experience before, even in Chicago! I am still growing and learning, and it is a truly humbling experience.

We are anxious, nervous, worried, and scared about our safety and the safety of our loved ones. Some of us have lost faith in others, or may have already lost trust and respect for others a long time ago, when we realized that not everyone will regard us unconditionally. You may have friends, co-workers, or family members who may make you feel bad or guilty for choosing not to engage with them any longer because of their beliefs and values towards you or others. I'm here to tell you that you are making a positive, healthy choice to protect your energy and set boundaries!
In fact, this is one of the things I am most passionate about: positively reframing how our anxiety and trauma protects us from threats to our physical, emotional, and mental state. Right now, our anxiety is protecting us from toxic people, beliefs, and practices. Our anxiety and fears can be a good thing! But at the same time, I'm here to support you in "dialing down" the intensity of your emotions to a more tolerable, manageable level so that way you can cope and get through your day and feel great! Also, I believe in strengthening your relationships with your support system while setting healthy limits for yourself. You are worthy of unconditional love and respect.
