Description

Being a wife has always been one of my goals. I desired to be a bride before being a mom; however, "life happened" and my dream was altered in August of 2012. Approximately one year later I found myself giving birth to a beautiful baby boy in April of 2013. From that day, my life, my perspective, and my behavior changed. I had to learn how to navigate life being a single co-parent and blending my family.

Throughout my years of being a single co-parent, I have met many single mothers and single fathers who are experiencing the same stressors that I once and at times continue to experience. My life experiences and encounters with other single parents compelled me to create The Balance Center. The Balance Center is a therapeutic incubator for single mothers and single fathers who are experiencing mental distress due to single parenting or co-parenting issues.

I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Delaware State University in 2008 and Master of Social Work from Morgan State University in 2012. I have over 12 years of experience working with children, youth, and families; and I am always furthering my education to increase my clinical skills.

Since 2008, I have supported children, youth, adults, and families with their emotional wellbeing. Having worked as a teacher, school social worker, and therapist I am confident in knowing I have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to lead parents in their healing journey. A broken family system is difficult yet possible to repair, which is why I aspire to help single parents improve their lives.

As a licensed clinical social worker and pre-certified Expressive Arts Therapist, I counsel my clients by utilizing Expressive Arts Therapy. The various forms of art I use are:

Visual Arts
Psychodrama
Dance/Movement
Music
Writing/Poetry
Photography
Additional Interventions
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Relaxation Techniques
Mindfulness

My goal is to assist clients in improving their emotional, mental, and behavioral health which will compel them to increase their self-esteem, thrive as an adult, and improve their relationships with their children and/or co-parents. After each session, parents will feel less stressed, less confused, and more relaxed. I am here to help with an Open Heart and an Open Mind!!
