Description
Dear Black Girl,
Do you...
-Overthink and overanalyze everything to death? What you said, what they said, what you wish you had said, what they meant by that?
-Have trouble saying "no" because of guilt or fear that you'll hurt the other persons feelings?
-Constantly find yourself trying to anticipate the needs of others while ignoring your own needs?
-Struggle with sleep and feel really tired most of the day?
-Always expect the worst to happen and therefore are doomsday planning all of the ways to respond rather than living in the moment?
-Notice pain and tension in your head, jaw, neck, shoulders, chest and stomach?
If you answered "yes" to 2 or more of these I want to help you: learn how to set boundaries and voice your "no" with confidence; communicate more assertively and honestly in order to build more satisfying relationships; slow the chaos of your mind; and find peace in your body.
I use an integrative approach to therapy. This means I incorporate traditional talk therapy techniques to explore your inner dialogue and self talk along with a body-centered approach. A body-centered approach may include bringing intentional awareness to your breath, posture, sensations in/on/around your body, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga poses unique to your goals.
Outside of the therapy space I love listening to my favorite podcasts: The Read, The Friend Zone, and Gettin Grown. I enjoy laughing, yoga, dancing, listening to music, singing, traveling, spending time with my partner and two dogs, sleeping in, and being in nature. I graduated in 2016 with my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work. In 2021, I graduated with my 200 hour yoga teacher certification (RYT) from Yoga Centric.
