Hi there! My name is Tia Redman. I am a Resident in Counseling in Virginia, currently working towards obtaining licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was born and raised in the 757 Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I started my academic studies at Old Dominion University (ODU). In May of 2016, I completed my studies with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Post-graduation from August 2017 to June 2020, I taught 2nd and 3rd grade for Richmond City Public Schools. During that time, I realized how passionate I am about mental health and decided to return to school. In August of 2021, I completed my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.
I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, and couples who have issues with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and stress. I have experience with both military and civilian. I also offer services that address issues with self-esteem, career counseling, communication, parenting difficulties, and trauma (sexual assault/ abuse/community violence). I have enjoyed working with couples that seek to rebuild and repair their connection and address issues with communication, history of infidelity, and improve conflict resolution skills. With all the services that I offer, we will work closely together to determine your strengths, areas of needs, and goals. I will apply a variety of effective theoretical interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) to my counseling style that creates a person-centered approach that also aligns best with your desired outcomes.
Life has the potential to be super trying; Nonetheless I want to provide you with the space to heal and the tools that’ll help you to feel more empowered as you continue on with your journey through life.
