Description

At TherapyLuv, our therapists are deeply committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care. We specialize in working with Black women, femmes, and historically marginalized communities, centering their unique experiences while fostering healing, resilience, and self-discovery. Our approach integrates evidence-based modalities with an understanding of the impact of systemic oppression, intergenerational trauma, and lived experiences.

Our Therapeutic Approaches:
1. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a powerful trauma-focused therapy that helps clients process distressing memories and experiences, reducing emotional intensity and improving overall well-being. Our EMDR-trained and certified therapists specialize in racialized and oppression-based trauma, offering a safe space to work through past wounds and reclaim personal power.

2. Brainspotting

A cutting-edge, brain-body-based therapy that accesses deeply stored trauma and emotions, Brainspotting allows clients to process difficult experiences at a profound level. This approach is particularly effective for clients dealing with anxiety, PTSD, and the impacts of racial and intergenerational trauma.

3. Liberation-Focused Therapy

Our therapists recognize that healing cannot be separated from the systemic realities that impact our clients’ lives. We incorporate liberation psychology principles, emphasizing rest, self-compassion, and collective healing as forms of resistance to oppressive systems.

4. Somatic and Mindfulness-Based Practices

Understanding that trauma lives in the body, we integrate body-based approaches such as guided meditation, grounding techniques, and mindfulness practices to help clients reconnect with themselves and regulate their nervous systems.

5. Culturally Responsive Eating Disorder Treatment

We specialize in working with clients struggling with disordered eating and body image concerns, addressing how diet culture, fatphobia, and systemic oppression uniquely impact Black women and femmes. Our approach is weight-inclusive and focused on healing the client’s relationship with food and their body.

6. Relational and Narrative Therapy

We believe that our clients’ stories deserve to be honored. Through relational and narrative therapy, we help clients explore their histories, redefine their self-perception, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Our team of therapists brings a wealth of experience in working with diverse populations, including first-generation students, high-achieving Black women, clinicians experiencing burnout, and individuals navigating life transitions. Whether you are seeking EMDR consultation, supervision, or individual therapy, we provide a supportive space where you are seen, heard, and valued.
