Description
Do you want to create more thriving relationships in your life? Most of us have a desire for healthy connection with others- it’s important in order to grow. I believe that therapy is a path towards that- a journey towards self-discovery, problem solving, establishing healthy boundaries, and a time for self-reflection. This can result in positive long-term change; improve relationships with others and themselves. Some of my areas of specialty are:
• relationship issues & dating concerns
• mother-daughter problems
• trauma/PTSD
• mood problems
• anxiety & stress management
• multicultural/racial identity issues
• LGBTQ+ issues (“coming out”)
• adjustment and personal growth (transition to college, relationship break-up, launching a new career, or starting a family)
As a black woman and First-generation who holds several marginalized identities, I understand the reality of isms and the impact of these isms on one’s emotional well-being. We may explore in therapy how aspects of your own identity (e.g., racial, cultural, sexual, spiritual, socioeconomic, etc.) might influence you and the ways in which you make choices in your life.
My style is very affirming and collaborative. My first priority is to ensure that you feel comfortable, understood, and accepted. I will listen and provide feedback and tools that I think might be helpful as you experiment with making the desired changes in your life. I believe in emphasizing areas of strength; skills that have "gotten you this far" and together, we will learn how to maximize your natural capabilities while easing the hurt that might have you feeling stuck. I invite you to contact me to determine how I may be of assistance in your journey towards growth.
