Taryn Hodison, MA, LPC provides individual therapy for adults and adolescents. Taryn has a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She has more than 10 years experience working with a wide variety of clinical populations in various settings such as hospitals, community mental health centers and private practice. She has extensive experience providing sound, evidence-based care to children, adults, and families; many of whom have experienced chronic or acute trauma.Taryn specializes in trauma-focused care with an emphasis on historical trauma and its impact on the emotional well-being of African Americans, non-black people of color and LGBTQ individuals.
Taryn is very passionate about social justice and advocating for racial and gender equity in schools and in the workplace. Taryn has spent much of her career advocating for multicultural awareness in mental health. Understanding the role that race, class, gender, sexuality and privilege plays in mental health is of utmost importance to Taryn.
Ultimately, Taryn believes that anyone can benefit from therapy as long as they are willing to be open and committed to the challenge of change.
