“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.”
— AUDRE LORDE

So if you’re reading this, release your shoulders from your ears, unclench your jaw, and remove your tongue from the roof of your mouth. We physically tend to hold onto stress in least noticeable ways. Breathe. You've already taken the first step. I'm Kira and I appreciate your consideration in choosing me as your prospective therapist.

Individual Therapy:
Do you grapple with the weight of perfectionism, only to find yourself caught in the trap of procrastination? Do you sometimes make choices that you know aren't in your best interest? Or perhaps you've achieved almost everything you wanted in life, yet there's still that one elusive thing you're chasing? If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that I see you, I've been you, and I'm here to support you. I specialize in working with Black women and women of color, from diverse backgrounds who face challenges related to navigating both their romantic and platonic relationships, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, managing high-functioning anxiety and depression, enhancing their productivity, and overcoming the impact of past traumas.

Couples Therapy:
I specialize in offering support to couples, whether they are embarking on the exciting journey of a new relationship, (such as premarital counseling), or navigating challenging times marked by relational distress, (such as infidelity, shattered trust, family conflicts, unresolved issues, and communication challenges). Regardless of your goal, be it sustaining, nurturing, or mending your partnership, couples therapy is a valuable choice. In this process, your relationship takes center stage as the primary client. Together, we explore and understand the unique dynamics of your partnership, discovering how you both "dance" together, while I guide you in creating more opportunities for harmony, melody, and deep-rooted intimacy.

My therapeutic style is integrative and can be best described as person-centered, meaning that I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to tailor the treatment to the specific needs of the individual or couple I am working with. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy (ST) and The Gottman Method.

Clients have often used the term "chill" to describe my therapeutic style, which I appreciate. My approach is designed to make the work we do feel comfortable, as if you're engaged in a heartfelt conversation with a trusted friend. At the same time, it's challenging enough to promote personal growth while providing a gentle and supportive atmosphere throughout the therapeutic process.
