Maternal Mental Health is often overlooked in most women, but research has gathered evidence that Women of Color have been most affected by the lack of quality of treatment in maternal care. Women of Color are 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy complications compared to their White counterparts. Women of Color are 3 times more likely to experience Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders. In 2020, the rates of severe maternal morbidity was 63% higher in Black communities than White communities. 38% of Women of Color struggle with postpartum depression. Black babies are twice as likely to die before the age of one. However, it does not diminish the passion that we have for perinatal mental health in ALL women.

Compassionate Counseling offers a safe, non-judgmental, and emotionally supportive environment that focuses on, but does not limit mental health services to, Women of Color. Compassionate Counseling is built on the core values & beliefs of: embrace, heal, & restore. Embrace where you currently are on your path, allow Compassionate Counseling to lend a hand through your healing journey to help restore hope, strength, and power.

Compassionate Counseling’s overall goal is to help dismantle the stigma attached to maternal mental health & women’s challenges while addressing systemic racism and healthcare inequities by educating, empowering, and advocating for Women of Color and those who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).
