Description

A key component of the therapeutic relationship is trust. I love to problem solve and promote positivity. This has allowed me to be able to connect with others who struggle with these issues. I hope to provide a fulfilling and motivating experience in order to tackle daily challenges. My goal is to provide the best service that benefits the client/clients.
A re-occurring theme I've noticed during practice is clients' lack of trust in themselves. Once they understand themselves, they become more comfortable with how they handle others. I am very passionate about finding a positive sense of self. I become
excited when clients are able to recognize what helps them find contentment in their lives
I received my Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology at Virginia State University, and received my Master's in Forensic Psychology, from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

I have extensive training working with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives. For eight years, I provided trauma-focused therapy to individuals affected by foster care. Assisting clients with developing healthier ways to cope, is a passion of mine. I enjoy exploring ways to effectively manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that will allow a client to feel comfortable with their responses to stressors.

In the time I have practiced therapy, I have worked with a range of anxiety symptoms and diagnoses. To manage those symptoms, I focus on recognizing triggers and utilizing appropriate coping skills to reduce the negative responses to those triggers.

I use diverse therapeutic approaches cognitive behavioral therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. In cognitive Behavioral Therapy, this form of therapy, the client is challenged to combat thoughts and emotions that may cause discomfort and affects their responses to stressors. The client also learns how to empower themselves and improve decision-making skills. I utilize it to assist clients in finding relief from negative impacting emotions and Solution-focused therapy to combat acute symptoms that negatively impact functioning. My clients learn how to utilize strengths and coping skills to manage those symptoms. In-Play Therapy with my younger clients, I am able to assist clients in developing language that allows the child to be expressive through arts, crafts, and other forms of expressive play.

Working with me would be emotionally rewarding as I strive to make every session a positive experience. I would like my clients to feel uplifted and motivated as they continue onto the next chapters of their lives.
