Description

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor I work with adults (18+) and adolescents (12-17) on a range of presenting issues. Some of the reasons people I’ve treated have come in relate to struggles with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse. During my career, I have developed a specialty in working with those affected by trauma and the symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex-PTSD (C-PTSD). Among other approaches used to help them, I am trained in the therapeutic use of Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly researched and evidenced-based approach to the treatment of PTSD.
I approach psychotherapy from a holistic and strengths-based orientation, emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship. My demeanor has been described by past clients and colleagues as warm, accepting, and playful. I work hard to create a safe space wherein clients feel supported in experiencing and expressing themselves, free from the fear of judgement. I believe that healing and change come about in many different ways and will be experienced uniquely by everyone. As a clinician, I thrive on the power of authentic and collaborative relationships and so I encourage and foster an incorporating of the spiritual, ethnic, gender, and sexual orientations of my clients into treatment.
