Description
NOTE: I'm currently on sabbatical and will be checking messages the week of July 27th, returning to seeing clients on August 4th. To schedule a free consultation or an existing client appointment, please visit shimabaronian.com and follow the consultation links on my site.
I’m an Afro-Caribbean therapist and licensed master social worker based in, Georgia. I work with women who are tired of holding everything together while quietly falling apart inside.
I specialize in generational trauma, sexual trauma, financial trauma, and emotional regulation. Many of my clients are Black and Caribbean women who grew up in homes where emotions weren’t discussed, money was a source of shame or silence, and “strong” was the only option. I know that strength has a cost.
In our work together, we go beneath the surface to the patterns, wounds, and unmet needs your nervous system has been carrying. I use somatic therapy, parts work, and EMDR, to help you reconnect with your body, understand what has been driving the cycle, and build lasting self-compassion. Therapy with me is collaborative, culturally grounded, and judgment-free.
I also work with couples navigating relational stress and the emotional weight of financial pressure.
I offer private-pay therapy, with a limited number of sliding-scale spots available. I’ve also partnered with Thrizer to help make out-of-network reimbursement more accessible for clients with eligible PPO plans.
If you’re in Georgia and ready to feel supported without judgment, you belong here. Book a free consultation and take the first step. I’m also the founder of Dear Brown Gyal™, a platform for generational healing and community support.
