Description

Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. You have courage, which is having the strength in the face of pain or grief. Throughout life, you will need courage, and I am here to assist. When life gives you lemons, I am here to assist you with making lemonade. Having a space to tell your story, and to address the issues that you are currently experiencing will provide you mental clarity. The art of counseling can be challenging and anxiety-provoking, but also rewarding. We will work collaboratively to create a safe space for you, that allows you to feel motivated, freed, and emotionally competent within yourself. My goal is to assist you with being resilient during these challenging times. My authentic and genuine intention is for you to feel safe to express yourself, and to reassure you that throughout your mental health journey, I am here to support you. I accept you as you are.

As an African American woman, I offer healing. I am aware that there are limited African American counselors, which may deter people who are currently struggling that look the same as me. My goal is to break that barrier to treatment and to inform you that it is more than okay to seek help. Take off the cape and allow someone to assist you with being the best version of yourself. We together can break the stigma. You matter, and your mental health matters.

My areas of focus include Depression, Anxiety, Personality Traits, Stress Reduction, Crisis Management, Trauma, Racial Effects, Self-esteem, Coping Skills/Self-care, Relationship Distress, Life transitions, Boundary Setting, and more. My experience includes treatment modalities of individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Chemical Dependency, Crisis Management, and Brief Couples Therapy. Interventions that are often utilized by me are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

You don’t have to struggle alone or in silence. I encourage you to reach out to me to begin taking the necessary steps to heal.
