A passionate person who is about connecting with people to help them reach their full potential. She has worked as a volunteer in outreach groups for several years serving underserved women and teens. Upon completing graduate school, she shifted her focus from outreach to counseling. Sharon has counseling experience with adolescents and adults in an outpatient, inpatient, in-home, and prison settings. Most recently she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and substance abuse related issues. Sharon takes a person-centered approach to counseling, in that her primary focus is to cultivate an open and warm relationship with individuals self-explore and pursue personalized goals. Sharon utilizes other therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Therapy, as well as exploring the relationship between past struggles and present issues. Lastly, Sharon has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and experienced as a Christian based counselor and provides this as requested.
