Description

I am keenly aware that my own positionality as a queer, light-skinned, bilingual, and biracial Black woman is inextricably linked to how I move through the world. Viewing my work as a therapist through an anti-racist and anti-oppression lens, I have the honor of accompanying fellow Black women and LGBTQIA+ individuals of color, especially those moving through life transitions, first-generation undergraduate & graduate students, academics, artists, writers, and those holding intersectional identities rooted in multicultural and interracial families, partnerships, and transcultural and/or adult adoption. In addition, I work with couples as well as poly individuals and ethically/consensually non-monogamous partnerships.

My approach to therapy is based on the premise that all of who we are is not only welcome in the therapeutic process, but it often serves as our greatest asset. Because you hold the tools to your own freedom, I believe that therapy should be client-led and therapist-accompanied, trauma-sensitive, and healing-centered. Our therapeutic journey begins with a complimentary 15-minute session during which I will share more about my unique approach to Brief Therapy which addresses current concerns, disempowers old stories, and strengthens your ability to care for your health in the long term. This approach will afford us the opportunity to include strategies most authentic to you, be they story-telling, journaling, mindfulness-based approaches, and/or EMDR Therapy. Lastly, each season I facilitate group therapy journeys using the 8-week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) model.
