Welcome to 💜💜💜 Purple Pen Therapy 💜💜💜
Your space for clarity, healing, recovery and wellness.
✨You deserve the opportunity to write your own story, on your terms, and use your authentic voice.✨
Hello! I am Ruqaiyah Rogers, a licensed clinical social worker, and I am honored to be part of your mental health and wellness journey towards healing and recovery. I believe people are worthy of so much more self-compassion and self-acceptance than they give themselves, and with the right skills and tools in place, can cultivate the type of life they want and deserve to live.
I enjoy working with clients that are having difficulties with Borderline personality, breaking the patterns of Codependency, Narcissistic abuse and recovery, as well as issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Divorce, Infidelity, major Life Transitions, Relationship problems and solutions, Trauma/PTSD, Chronic health conditions/Illness.
No matter the issue or concern my goal is to help clients improve their interpersonal relationships and develop a better understanding of their emotions.
I'm trained in several counseling modalities, including:
🔸Acceptance and Commitment therapy
🔸Cognitive Behavioral therapy
🔸Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR)
🔸🔸Certified in Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT)🔸🔸
Regardless of which approach is used in your therapy session, I am going to meet you where you are at in life so that we can hopefully work together to set goals that bring about positive change.
Why Purple Pen Therapy?
I am so glad you have made this important first step towards finally prioritizing you and your mental health! People come to therapy for many reasons. Maybe, there's a lot going on in your life right now. It could be that you are being pulled by several demands and in many different directions. Or perhaps you are experiencing feelings of sadness, feeling overwhelmed with stress, struggling with past trauma, feeling challenged by relationships, having a hard time processing grief, unsure of your purpose in life, grappling with racial trauma, or simply feeling like something is holding you back from reaching your full potential? Whatever the reason, I would love to talk with you more to find out more about how I can help.
How can I help?
I believe that the work of therapy is to help you discover or rediscover your areas of greatest joy and strengths in order to chart a path towards attaining a life of meaning, value, and purpose. To do that, however, requires us to lean into the pain and the sorrows. At other times it can mean rewriting and/or creating new narratives that better serve your new goals and purpose. Rather than becoming distracted by a diagnosis, the aim is to figure out what is no longer working for you, and not become trapped in patterns that continue to result in pain and suffering. My goal then is to help you become unstuck, choose your joys, move freely, fully, and confidently into a life that matters because you know you deserve it and will accept nothing less. I specialize in working with survivors of trauma and have a passion for supporting others in healing professions including first responders, medical staff, essential workers, and other mental health professionals. I also immensely enjoy connecting with individuals who are interested in engaging in therapy for interpersonal growth, self-exploration, relational healing, grief processing, spirituality concerns, and self-care.
I am not contracted with any insurance panels at this time and would be considered an out of network provider. If you plan to seek reimbursement, you will need to contact your insurance provider to discuss how your plan compensates you for out of network mental health coverage. I will happily provide a Superbill. I accept all major credit cards and you may also be able to pay for services with your pre-tax Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.
