The first step to healing is acknowledging there is an issue. As we mature through life some of us face more challenges than others. It is not the challenges we face that defines us but the steps we take to deal with the challenges that define us. Seeking guidance, an ear to listen is not a sign of weakness but strength for it takes a strong individual to acknowledge, seek and accept a helping hand. My passion has always centered around being a helping hand. I have experience in working with children, adolescents and their parents in addressing mood disorders, emotional issues and developing appropriate social skills. I have experience in working with juveniles dealing with mental health issues and a background in case management to provide families with necessary resources. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, the focus of the conversation is on you the individual, your needs, your strengths and barriers and finding ways to develop and increase your skills to live the life you want to live.
I use a blend of Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Person centered and psycho-education. A holistic approach is utilized by exploring with and educating individuals about how mind, spirit and body are interconnected.
Sometimes it is scary to jump or to even take the first step so congratulations on taking the first step and reaching out.
