Description

The meaning behind PORT Counseling comes from it’s dictionary definition:

port/pȯrt (noun) city, town, or other place where ships load or unload. place along a coast in which ships may take refuge from storms; harbor.

Within the context of the therapeutic process, PORT Counseling is a place where you can take refuge from your stressors. It’s the space for you to unload the unhelpful thoughts and ways of relating with the world around you. It is the setting where you will get to load up on skills and strategies to help you through.

We’re confident that together we can work to help equip you with the necessary tools to help you face and overcome these challenges. Whether you’re struggling with interpersonal relationship issues, depression, or anxiety, it is important that you know you don’t have to be alone in this journey. We have the experience to help you achieve your goals, overcome these struggles, and live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

We understand no two individuals are the same, and we tailor our sessions together to address challenges unique to you. We will work together to understand the root cause of your struggles and address those issues with long-lasting strategies, helping you get closer to the life you’ve always wanted.

MORE ABOUT OUR PRACTICE
Our practice space is a calming environment that is cool and soothing. We believe in an inclusive treatment environment that is affirming to all. Our compassionate care team is invested in your success.

Our office is handicap accessible and open for appointments on weekends.

OUR ADVICE TO POTENTIAL CLIENTS
Our advice for someone contemplating treatment is to take one step at a time. Start with the consultation and go from there. Thinking steps ahead often serves to detract from the present moment and thwart efforts to get help. After the phone consultation, clients often feel a sense of relief. They feel that they finally have a space that is their own, and specifically for them.

WHAT TO EXPECT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
Your first appointment will primarily consist of us building a rapport with one another, while also identifying all presenting issues, history, and goals. Not much preparation is needed. Simply come with a degree of openness to share at your own pace.
