Description
Odochi Onungwa is a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner and a certified family nurse practitioner. She holds a doctorate degree from Briar Cliff University and obtained both a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University. Later, she acquired a post master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from the University of Cincinnati.
She has experience working in residential treatment facilities, home health, medical-surgical units, telemetry, post-surgery recovery, inpatient, and outpatient psychiatric treatment units. Particularly, she has extensive knowledge in evaluating and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders such as depressive disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, chemical dependency, and insomnia.
Her passion in helping people struggling with mental illness and substance addiction led to the creation of NextGen Psychiatry. Onungwa strives to provide comprehensive, inclusive, affordable, and compassionate psychiatric care in an outpatient setting.
