Every behavior, emotion, and pattern has a story behind it and you deserve a space where you finally feel heard, supported, and understood without judgment!

If you’re looking for a therapist who offers a warm, supportive, in-depth space to process your complexities, you’ve come to the right place.

Nhautrey Brown, LICSW is a compassionate and highly skilled mental health therapist in Virginia who is currently accepting new clients for virtual therapy. She is the founder of Why’s Words Therapy, a practice dedicated to providing thoughtful, client-centered mental health care to individuals, families, and groups of all ages and backgrounds.

Nhautrey earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Seattle University, where she developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed, strengths-based care. During her graduate training, she completed clinical internships at Pregnancy and Parenting Support through Catholic Community Services, providing case management and parenting education to new and expecting parents, and at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, where she delivered medical social work services and individual therapy to children and families.

With experience in both clinical therapy and case management, Nhautrey takes a holistic and collaborative approach to the therapeutic process. She integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities and tailors each session to align with her clients’ unique needs, goals, and lived experiences. Her work is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and a deep respect for each client’s personal journey.

Nhautrey is committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in mental health care. She is especially passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health—particularly within African American communities—and creating safe, affirming spaces where healing and growth can thrive.

Let’s work together to understand the “why” in you.
