New Definitions Counseling is a place where your community is celebrated during the healing process. We aim to empower individuals to live their most authentic life by providing comprehensive, multicultural counseling and psychological services grounded in cultural humility. Our counseling, consulting and psychological services are designed to help you live more authentically and promote mental well-being. Our therapists will provide a safe place for anyone seeking to enhance quality of life in a safe, confidential, and empathetic working environment.

Advocacy and education for the diverse communities we service is important to us. We enjoy working with a wide range of individuals however we specialize in working within the African American and Black Diaspora to provide culturally competent, victim-centered services that empower clients to create change in their lives. We provide care for a range of mental health issues as well as trauma recovery, life transitions, self-esteem and identity development

Group Therapy Details

BIPOC GRADUATE STUDENTS: This goal of this group is to create an open space for BIPOC students to share experiences, promote self and sociocultural awareness, connection culturally with others, and utilization of wellness strategies. We will be engaging in discussions on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class and ability by sharing vulnerabilities and triumphs. The experiences and stories shared by minorities help combat daily microaggressions and build community, in this space we will share experiences of belonging, and reflect upon how the world around us transforms our internal landscape. In this group we aim to explore our identities, seek community and find support in each other. This is a resource for gradute students to utilize in their professional and academic development.

LIFE TRANSITIONS: This goal of this group is to provide an atmosphere where we come together with others to share problems or concerns, to better understand our own situations and to learn from and with each other. This space will ultimately provide room for change and growth as we process our various life transitions. Life transitions support group will offer empathy, understanding and hope for our changing lives. Sometimes the most profound lessons come from sharing stories about ourselves. Sharing our struggles is the first step to healing, this support group will help improve interpersonal relationships by uplifting each other. No matter how your transition is going, we want you to know that you are not alone.
