Is pain more familiar than joy? Do you know loneliness better than warmth and connection? Is anger or sadness easier to feel than any other feeling?
I work with people who have a hard time fitting in; people who avoid relationships with others for fear of rejection; people who have a hard time trusting or are too trusting; people who look and talk down on themselves; people who find it easier to be by themselves but strongly desire acceptance and connection.
I provide a safe space for you to tell your story, while helping you uncover the beauty and strength that lies beneath the layers life has seemingly demanded. I provide real solutions for life's challenges that include: increasing your self awareness, identifying relational and behavioral patterns that no longer serve you and guiding you toward more flexible thinking and actions that help improve your relationship with yourself and others.
I specialize in treating: depression and anxiety connected to low self esteem, trauma/PTSD, racial identity issues, body image issues, bipolar disorder, life transitions, substance and alcohol addictions and marital conflict.
I am a trauma informed, person-centered therapist leaning toward Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and I am trained in EMDR - a technique that is highly effective at reducing and eliminating trauma symptoms.
There is beauty and strength in each and everyone of us. Life's challenges can make pain more familiar and comforting than the uncertainty of joy and fulfillment which can only be found by bravely navigating uncomfortable places. It would be an honor to partner with you on your journey to wellness.
