Description

I, Nadiyah Edwards (NAH-dee-yAH), am a LMSW graduate of Howard University's Master of Social Work program. My academic focus was mental health, with a research emphasis on adults that experienced childhood trauma and the impact childhood trauma has on adult relationships. My approach to therapy prioritizes the mind, body, and spirit relationship. The integration of mind, body, and spirit health helps to facilitate an individual's ability to connect with the experiences of the whole self. Therapy with me includes cultural and ethnic history and practices. I prioritize facilitating brave spaces to support individuals in courageous healing. Interventions are rooted in a balance of cultural competence, lifelong learning, and inclusion. Traditional therapeutic approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and mindfulness are my areas of specialty, and individuals are welcomed to lead in deciding the best intervention methods for their therapeutic journey.

Interventions with me are rooted in a balance of cultural competence, lifelong learning, and inclusion. I also incorporate traditional therapeutic approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and mindfulness.
