Description
Hello, I'm Monique Mort (She/Her), and I'm a licensed therapist who is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all individuals. My focus is on helping people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, racial trauma, family/relational problems, and ethical non-monogamy. I provide services for Individuals, Couples and Families. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have been practicing therapy for over 15 years.
I have a passion for serving those who identify as LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and individuals seeking Gender-affirming or Poly affirming care. I recognize that systemic oppression impacts individuals, families, and communities, and I strive to acknowledge and address these issues in my work. I recognize that members of these communities often face unique and complex challenges and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process these issues. My goal is to provide a culturally responsive and empowering space for my clients to heal and grow, with a focus on supporting underserved individuals and communities.
Furthermore, I offer counseling services for persons involved in ethically non-monogamous relationships and alternative lifestyles. I understand the unique challenges that individuals and partnerships face within these relational dynamics and provide a non-judgmental, affirming atmosphere in which to explore these concerns.
My approach to therapy is relational, strengths-based, and draws from various evidence-based modalities. My goal is to create a comfortable and validating environment where you can develop insight, connect with your inner strengths, and feel empowered to take action. Among the therapy modalities that I draw from are: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy.
Although I have experience working with people of all ages, I am only accepting adult (18+) clients at this time for individual services. I have developed a keen awareness of the specific issues experienced by the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC community, and those who are seeking gender and poly affirming care. These perspectives inform my approach to therapy, helping me to be more culturally humble and mindful in the work I do.
If you're struggling with any issues mentioned above, and are looking for an experienced and supportive therapist, please reach out to me. I am committed to creating a space where you feel seen, heard and validated. Thank you for considering me to help guide you through this journey.
