Monica Manuel is a psychotherapist and the CEO and Founder of Joie de Vivre Counseling and Therapy, LLC. She has a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling and has been in practice over 10 years with clinical experience ranging from private practice settings to college and university counseling centers. Monica is clinically licensed through the State of Georgia and Board Certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. Her postgraduate education includes doctoral training at Spelman College, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech Universities.

Monica specializes in helping clients navigate issues related to identity, intimacy, finding meaning and living more authentically in the face of internal and external pressures. Using this framework, Monica helps clients understand and address depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life stage stressors. She is collaborative and primarily uses a relational (Psychodynamic) approach that incorporates Mindfulness, Feminist, Holistic and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) techniques when appropriate. In her work with couples, she focuses on skill-building and creating safe environments for emotional expression and exploration., to treat the whole person, reestablishing the balance that creates and sustains wellness and vitality.

Monica's research and writing focuses on mental health and resilience in women, couples, relationships, trauma, multicultural psychology, and anxiety and stress related issues. Monica is an active member of APA (American Psychological Association) and AGPS (Atlanta Group Psychotherapy Society), and Certified QPR Gatekeeper Instructor.
