My name is Jaronda Lige, the Creator, and CEO of MOCHA Therapy Inc. I am a proud Oakland, California native, Fitness-loving, Meditation-enthusiast, and Coffee, Cocoa and Tea obsessed Licensed Psychotherapist based in Southern California. I obtained my Master of Social Work degree in 2005 from California State University, East Bay, and earned my licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Work in 2013. My personal and professional journey continued to Southern California in 2006. I am now living and practicing as a Psychotherapist in San Diego, California. I am also licensed to practice Psychotherapy in the State of Arizona. I will continue embarking on my academic journey at Loma Linda University, Doctor of Social Work program to advance my career in the areas of Clinical Leadership and Practice Innovation this Fall 2021.
As a proud Californian, I have worked in diverse communities and with different ethnic groups. I’ve worked in various treatment settings, including group homes, independent living programs, dialysis units, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, and outpatient mental health. These experiences have allowed me to become better versed to relate and provide psychotherapy to all families, individuals, and couples dealing with the joylessness and struggles of everyday life challenges. My specialty includes depression, stress & anxiety, motivation, self-esteem & confidence, trauma & abuse, LGBT-related issues, family conflicts, intimate partner relationship distress, and coping with life changes, grief & loss.
MOCHA Therapy Inc. was formed to help dismantle the stigma attached to the BIPOC communities, particularly African Americans in seeking mental health support. I strive to end the stigma around seeking help and treatment, within BIPOC Communities, so that we can all fulfill a better life. My practice nurtures a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere rooted in safety, mutual trust, respect, and honesty. My therapeutic style is integrative, with elements of mindful open explicit conversations coupled with Emotional Focused Family Therapy, Emotional Focused Individual Therapy, and Emotional Focused Therapy for Couples.
Life can throw us lemons, dead-ends, obstacles, roadblocks, and a tether totter of emotions. I am a strong believer that you have to find your bliss before you can follow it. Starting therapy is a big decision to becoming a better you and discovering your bliss. Therapy is a place where you can tap into your most authentic self, untangle & undue the obstacles in your life, and be goal-directed to inner peace, healing and happiness. We will work in tandem to rediscover and recreate your story of hope, happiness, and healing.
