I’m MJ, and RAM CIRCLE is my life’s work.
I graduated from UMBC with a degree in Political Science and Psychology (I was going to work on campaigns, believe it or not) and a Master’s degree in Social Work with Clinical Concentration from Catholic U. I did my post graduate studies at the Washington School of Psychiatry, and I recently joined a program at the Centre for Applied Jungian Studies.
I’m a trained Brainspotting and DBT therapist. I specialize in emotion regulation, individuation and self-esteem, attachment, and generational trauma.
Over the years, I have helped clients who struggled with overthinking, indecisiveness, sadness, anger, numbness, intrusive thoughts, vacant self-esteem, binge eating, identity conflict, imposter syndrome, suicidal ideations, trauma, and difficulty navigating decisions or situations. I help my clients move through the unbearable and unmanageable by breaking down their perceived painful experiences and/or everyday life struggles into daily more tolerable, actionable steps. Another key part of my approach is to separate the problem from the person through story telling.
I am a proud Haitian, and I speak Haitian Creole (Kreyol), French, and English. I love to work with a variety of populations. At my practice, I see a number of college-aged students who are looking to navigate the newness of college life, balancing friendships, family dynamic, peer pressure, working a job in some cases, feelings of dysregulation and academic expectations. I collaborate with adult men and women seeking to journey through trauma and strengthen their self leadership and direction. I work with people of color who want to navigate microaggression in the workplace, academia, and the impact on their confidence level. Lastly, I enjoy working with interns and provisionally licensed clinicians on their professional development path because not too long ago, I was there.
In our work together, you, the client, remain the expert. I move through that work knowing that you know more about your experience than I ever will. I rely on your expertise. My style is more relational, and I ground myself in the values of accountability, commitment, curiosity, creativity, honesty, and humor.
These are the frameworks that shape the way I engage with you in your journey of healing:
