Description
I am an Afro Caribbean cis-identified woman. Whether you're looking for short-term or long-term psychotherapy, I provide a safe and caring place for you. Our sessions are focused on what is important to you, as well as what is important for you. I give special consideration to your cultural background, and work with you in a way that is respectful and effective. I don't just listen without commenting, but interact with you and help you express thoughts and feelings if that is what you need. Therapy can be painful and frustrating, but it is almost always beneficial.
Have you experienced past trauma or abuse in your life? Are you dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or PTSD? If you have been feeling stuck where you are and you are ready to create a new chapter in your life, EMDR therapy, which is proven to be highly effective in reducing symptoms associated with trauma. I am professionally trained to practice EMDR based therapy. I integrate EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS therapies into many aspects of my work. I have experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, bereavement, victims of crime/accidents/natural disasters.
My hope is to encourage flexibility and personal growth through mindful contact with your experience, clarifying what really matters in your life, and building patterns of behavior that are grounded in your values.
Sessions consist primarily of talking, but they might include exercises that involve light movement and stretching, meditation, visualization, and role-playing.
