I have an MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

I am a Black cis-female who grew up in Northwest Washington DC. I understand that there is generational hurt and trauma that impacts the way we view, experience, and interact with the world and others.

Fundamental to my work is the belief that all people should be treated equally and as humans, first. We all need to feel safe, and have a place of belonging, including our relationships.

Through my practice, I ensure that my clients feel heard, seen, felt, and supported. I will create a safe space for you to navigate challenges and feelings so that you can heal, change patterns that no longer serve you, and help you increase intimacy and connection with your partner.

I am passionate about decolonizing mental health and my role as a social justice advocate. For instance, when we are exploring patterns, I consider the patterns in your relationship, family of origin, and patterns in larger systems including our environment and culture. Or if a therapeutic technique doesn’t work for you, or an aspect of your identity, we will shift gears and find a technique that does. I understand the limitations that a field that is dominated by white theorists can have when working with brown and Black clients.

In addition to sex therapy, I use theoretical approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology techniques, and narrative therapy in my work with clients. I tailor my therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I will help you evaluate, identify, and challenge maladaptive behaviors and thinking patterns to replace them with effective strategies to help you develop more fulfilling and satisfying relationships.

I hold certificates in the following modalities:

Trauma-Informed CBT
Parenting during Separation and Divorce
Anti-racism Training
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Additionally I have training in Relational Life Therapy a form of couples counseling that focuses on helping partners improve communication and intimacy, while learning how to break out of traditional gender roles.

My expertise is helping individuals and couples struggling with with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, life transitions, parenting, and racial trauma, and also have intimacy challenges, including desire discrepancy, sexual anxiety, performance issues, sexual trauma, and low libido.
