Description
*Whatever your reasons may be, I am grateful that your journey brought you here today*
In your life, you are the expert. I aim to take that expertise and provide a space where you can challenge and confront yourself on beliefs that are no longer serving you.
My therapeutic focus is on relationship issues, anxiety, identity development, family of origin concerns, and transitional periods in life. My focus is on young adult and adult clients. My clinical experience comes from providing therapy in a private practice setting.
We will create a plan and develop goals to fit your individual needs. Our work will help us understand how your perception of the world impacts certain behaviors, acknowledge that interpreting our emotional experiences is essential to growth, and uncover core beliefs you might have about yourself.
Life can get challenging and we all find comfort in connecting with others and receiving support. As your co-collaborator in therapy, I will accept you as you are and strive to provide you with unconditional positive regard in a safe, non-judgmental, empathetic space.
My ultimate hope is that you can see yourself as someone who is worthy of love and belonging, just as I do.
*I provide an eclectic model of therapy*
Reality based, to focus our sessions on solving problems & rebuilding connections.
Cognitive behavioral, to understand our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, & beliefs, and to learn to shift our perspective. This type of therapy can be short-term, as over time, you will learn to transform these patterns on your own.
Emotionally focused, to bring awareness to our general emotional state & learn to cope with difficult emotions. We will learn the importance of emotions on our decision making ability and internal locus of control.
*I bring much of myself into my work*
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University and I soon realized that I had a passion for working with people and a need to understand why humans think and act the way we do. This desire led me to pursue my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina State University.
I am an Associate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina, as well as a National Board Certified Counselor.
I am passionate about providing therapy and getting to the heart of human interaction. I nourish my spirit by connecting with family and friends, singing, reading a good book, snuggling with my dog, trying new foods & experiences with my partner, volunteering at various local organizations, and practicing the art of yoga.
