I am a New York State-licensed mental health counselor. My counseling style is supportive, compassionate, and solution-focused. I supports my clients in setting realistic goals for any of life’s problems. My approach includes culturally-competent counseling, cognitive behavioral techniques, trauma-informed counseling, and solution-focused counseling.
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
-Throughout my childhood, my peers and I all faced adverse childhood experiences. I did not understand then why we had these experiences and why we all responded differently. It wasn't until I had my own experience with a great therapist did I understand, process, and begin to heal.
What should someone know about working with you?
-My top priority when I provide counseling is, “How can I support this person to live a more joyful life?” Throughout our work together, we will explore how your culture provides strength and/or causes conflict in your life. During our first session you will explain to me what you are hoping to get out of counseling, and I will review my policy and procedures for counseling.
How do your own core values shape your approach to therapy?
-I approach and respect everyone as a human being first and foremost. I believe strongly that everyone wants joy in their life and support to get through the tough times. I do believe that counseling is a very healthy way to get additional support during those tough times. My professional goal is to create a safe space for people of color to take advantage of the benefits of counseling.
What can I expect from this provider?
- My counseling style is supportive, relatable, solution-focused and realistic. I support and encourage my clients to grow in all areas of their life, and I collaborate with my clients to set attainable goals.
