Description
Hey there! I'm Lauren Tademy (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (#204647). I am supervised by Thelma Rouse Ph.D, LPC-S, LMFT-S (#202954).
I am a patient, curious, and humorous counselor that works to empower my clients in achieving their goals and developing healthier relationships. I love working with teens, families, and couples that struggle with identity issues, communication issues, and difficulty finding self-worth.
I typically help people manage their anxiety, depression, ADHD, and PTSD from a trauma-informed perspective. However, if this does not sound like you then no worries! I am interested in working with a variety of issues and I will do whatever it takes to learn more about your struggles. Whether it be reading books, reading articles, attending seminars, or connecting with fellow therapists, I will do my due diligence to ensure that you are receiving the best care I have to offer. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and typically approach my practice from a mix of Emotionally-Focused & Contextual Family Therapy modalities. I am passionate about sex/intimacy issues, cultural issues, and any issues related to marginalized and vulnerable populations.
When I'm not in sessions, I enjoy painting, watching anime, trying my hand at new crafts, playing cozy video games, and exploring Houston's diverse food scene with friends. I try to stay active through HIIT, pilates, yoga, and dance exercise classes but most of the time I prefer to soak up some sun in my hammock. My partner and I are high school sweethearts and did long-distance for the six years I was in school, so I understand the effort it takes to maintain stability in our relationships through transitional periods of our lives. I also love expressing myself through fashion, so my appearance can change drastically from one week to the next. Do not be alarmed, I promise it is still me! I was driven to this field by my belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. I would be honored to accompany you on your path toward healing and overall wellness.
