Description
Welcome! Thanks for choosing you. But what does it mean to choose yourself...
Hi! My name is Lauren Reynolds and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) practicing virtually out of New York State. I have been invested in the pursuit of self-actualization for over 10 years. During the decade of my therapeutic career I have counseled a diverse collection of individuals whose range of concerns required my background in providing emotional support to individuals, couples, families and groups. My primary background is in individual care for those struggling with Anxiety/trauma, Addiction, Depression, and other co-occurring disorders. I also consult with private companies and government agencies were I curate curriculum and facilitate trainings for specialized content knowledge on various, current mental health concerns. My approach is grounded in Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative and Trauma-Informed care techniques. My theoretical preferences are person-centered. I want to center my clients so they can feel in control of their choices.
Throughout my life I have experienced and observed a void in care and understanding of marginalized folx. Subsequently, I choose to incorporate my critical analysis of Trauma/Intergenerational Relational Trauma/'Burnout', Decolonization; undoing the narrative that just talking about your feelings is enough, and Addiction for people of color, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities, into our work.
My passion was cultivated during my matriculation at Spelman College, where I earned a BA in Psychology. My skill was sharpened during my graduate studies at Columbia University, where I was conferred dual Masters of Arts in Psychological Counseling (MA) and Masters of Education(M.Ed), with a concentration in Mental Health.
Baltimore is my birthplace, I was raised in the DMV, I will forever love Atlanta but Harlem has been my world for the last 12 years and counting. I felt this call early, honestly. I knew going into college that I wanted to gain better insight into healthy coping skills for communities of color. When I'm not seeing private clients I'm hamming it up on my podcast Somewhat Dysfunctional or practicing some self-care..watching someone's housewife. That's me. What about you? I look forward to providing care to help support healthier choices and a more fulfilled you.
