I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Maryland as well as in the District of Columbia. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from Howard University in 2000. I am currently enrolled in the Doctoral program for Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University. My concentration of study within my doctoral program is Couples Therapy. I have been in private practice since 2004. Most of my clinical experience has been providing couples therapy and adult psychotherapy. I routinely work with clients that want help with the following issues: anger management, anxiety, depression, intimacy concerns, infidelity, relationship issues, infertility/conception complications, trauma or posttraumatic stress disorder, grief/loss, substance abuse/alcohol and drug counseling, workplace/career concerns, and other life stressors (work/life balance, finding one's purpose in life, self-esteem, and self confidence). I believe that you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose, and hopeful about the therapy. When you feel this way, therapy is more likely to have a positive outcome. I use a cognitive-behavioral approach and it is based upon the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors. I am a firm believer that we can change the way we think to feel and act better even if the situation does not change. It is important to note that I do not take on clients that I do not think that I can help. If you could benefit from treatment that I cannot provide, then I will assist you in obtaining it.
