She believes that everyone is capable of self-direction and growth. In behavior modification, she strives for a relationship with each client that will foster growth. During sessions, she works to maintain an environment anchored in unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. She guides clients through the explorations of solutions already present within their lives to solve current challenges. She works with each client to explore how certain thoughts can produce negative or painful feelings and maladaptive behaviors. In partnership with the client she and he client will examine potential choices connected to their behavioral and life goal(s).
Her approach considers the whole client, her feelings, behaviors, thoughts, achievement, and beliefs. Techniques include talk therapy and expressive techniques, which integrate art, music, and written or spoken words into the session. She believes that utilizing problem-focused and goal-directed approaches will best the growth process as she and the client work together to develop, and implement personal, social, and career goals.
