Knekiya is a psychotherapist at the Counseling Center of Maryland providing individual therapy and group therapy. Knekiya serves clients of all ages, particularly adolescents and young adults. Knekiya is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in the State of Maryland.
Knekiya has experience in trauma work, depression, and anxiety. Knekiya has worked extensively with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Knekiya’s therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy. Knekiya has also completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Knekiya believes in fostering a strong therapeutic alliance for her clients to feel seen and heard. Additionally, Knekiya emphasizes cultural competence within her therapeutic work.
Knekiya earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Rehabilitation and Human Services from The Pennsylvania State University. Knekiya also earned her Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University of Maryland.
