Description
As a Marine Corps spouse of 23 years, I have had the pleasure of gaining professional experience in a variety of therapeutic settings working with both military and civilian populations. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in many areas to include substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem, motivation, relationship and communication issues, parenting, emotion regulation, and anger management.
I have come to learn through experience that when it comes to mental wellness there is no such thing as one size fits all. I like to meet folks where they are, and in order to do that, I utilize an integrative approach drawing from Choice Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Structural Family Therapy.
The counseling relationship is both powerful and delicate. As such, I value the time spent working with clients in a collaborative effort to achieve therapeutic goals. I believe my role in the counseling process is to help clients build and enhance the skills needed to live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
