Description

Hello and welcome! I’m Kara, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist based in the Richmond, Virginia area. I’m deeply passionate about supporting adult women and teens of color, ages 14 +, as they navigate identity, relationships, and the pressures of societal expectations.

As an African American woman who has personally experienced anxiety and depression, I understand the unique complexities many of us, in our relationships with others, in our jobs, or just existing. I entered this field to support those who see themselves reflected in me—particularly women who are often marginalized, underserved, and underheard.

My approach is grounded in empathy, cultural awareness, and the creation of a safe, affirming space for exploration. Together, we’ll explore your personal story, relationships, and cultural influences as we work through anxiety, identity concerns, or relationship challenges. With my training in expressive therapies and studio art, we can also incorporate creative expression and art-making as powerful tools for self-discovery and healing.

I value self-compassion and empowerment, and my goal is to help you heal, honor your strengths, and find clarity and peace. If you’re looking for a supportive space for reflection and growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
