Working in mental health I have had many days where I have clocked out for the day and felt depleted. Oftentimes dreading the thought of my personal to-do list. Feeling that I had no real-time for myself or to just be myself. The current pandemic amplified this feeling. Eventually, I had to make a choice. Continue to prioritizing other's needs over my own or begin learning to set health boundaries. I chose to implement and enforce boundaries and prioritize to my own physical, social, emotional, spiritual needs, and well-being.
I chose to recognize the things in which I could control and could not control and focus on those of that which I could. I had to examine my habits, analyze my self-care practices, and make some changes. I could no longer continue on autopilot and pour from a non-existent cup. I know what it feels like to feel like there is not enough time in the day. I know what it feels like to sit on guilt after desiring to rest when there is more work that needs to be done. I also know that reaching a healthy balance is vital and possible with some reflecting, prioritizing, guidance, and accountability. Let’s work together to help you put yourself and your needs at the center and improve your overall well-being. You will reach new heights!
