I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children and adolescents from 6 to 19 years old. I provide individual and family therapy, as well as, clinical mental health assessments for various entities who require a diagnosis and/or treatment recommendations. Additionally, I provide speaking engagements for various populations on a plethora of psycho-educational topics to help the community have a greater sense of appreciation for mental health.
I have expertise in play therapy techniques, as I believe that children communicate not just verbally, but through me experiencing their word in their first language. My clinical focus is client centered and draws on family systems and cognitive behavior therapy; however, I use eclectic interventions to meet my clients at their levels of need.
My approach is strongly initiated by forming a therapeutic relationship with my clients. I have a keen sense on connecting with others in therapy; as I believe that developing rapport is crucial to the therapeutic process and allows my clients to feel safe and free to be themselves. I have experience working with issues that include: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, poor anger management, behavior and oppositional problems, ADHD, emotional disturbance, grief, learning disabilities, poor peer and social relationships, self-esteem, trauma, suicidal ideation, and self-harming; as well as, parenting and family conflict.
In addition, I am an approved clinical supervisor for the Virginia Board of Counseling which allows me to provide supervision for residents in counseling seeking to become licensed to practice independently.
