KaMara, affectionately known as “KK”, spent nearly two decades in healthcare operations and recently expanded her knowledge base to include social and emotional health as well. She has experience in both mental health inpatient and outpatient settings and is committed to serving the state of Kansas. She is passionate about helping youth and adults heal, feel, and recover. KK serves on the Advisory Council at the YMCA and she is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters. KK recently authored and published a children’s book, “Brown Girls Can”, to help girls realize their true potential.

She is the founder of a virtual mentoring program entitled, D.O.P.E. (Determined. Optimistic. Powerful. Exceptional) Girls and has independently mentored over 20 girls. KK also has a unique gift and passion to help women who are struggling to be a ‘superhero’ in all areas of life. KK graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree from University of Kentucky, and a second Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Kansas and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in the state of Indiana. KK is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with a certification in Child and Adolescent therapy.
