I have extensive experience working with clients who experience a wide range of behavioral and emotional concerns, such as anxiety, stress, ADHD, low self-esteem, difficulty with life transitions, trauma, depression, grief/loss, academic exploration, relational issues, and attachment disorders. My approach to therapy is client centered and integrative, meeting clients where they are. When working with children and adolescents I also work with their families, to provide the best support tailored to their needs. I utilize evidenced-based practices from CBT, strength-based, play therapy, and art therapy to create an empathic, safe environment.
It is my goal in sessions to build trusting and caring relationships with clients. It is important to me that my clients feel safe, heard, respected, and unjudged while in sessions. To ensure that is the case, I display empathy, humility, and allow the client to have the space they need to guide therapy as we work in collaboration together through the unique experience of each individual person. In the initial session, we discuss goals for treatment, as broad or as specific as you prefer.
*New Group Starting Wednesdays @7p
Trust the Process Group: “To be seen, to be heard, to be understood.”
A process group for brown girls ages 12-18, addressing the stigma surrounding mental health issues and therapy preventing brown girls/young women from speaking on concerns and emotions. This group is designed to provide structure for young brown girls struggling with social interaction during the global pandemic along with consistent Black Lives Matter (BLM) media controversy. This group is to provide girls with a safe place to process cultural concerns, development of healthy racial self-identity, family dynamic, consensual validation, social and racial injustice. Members are encouraged to utilize this group to network and connect with each other, to pose questions and support each other.
