Description
I am a Black, queer, femme, body and sex positive licensed clinical social worker with over ten years of clinical experience specializing in complex trauma, PTSD, grief/loss, depression, anxiety religious trauma, and spiritual wellness. As a therapist who is committed to decolonizing mental health and reclaiming our healing practices, I also utilize my professional training and expertise in; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Strength Based, Motivational Interviewing and other humanistic approaches.
I work with various types of clients, however have significant experience working with Black women identified persons, POC persons, as well as Queer and Trans Black people, Indigenous People, People Of Color (QTBIPOC) persons. Many of my clients have multiple marginalized identities and are not only constantly trying to manage the daily realities of microaggressions, but are also effected by countless oppressive systems and structures that often exacerbate mental health concerns.
In addition to being a licensed therapist, I am also an academically trained public theologian (Duke Divinity) and spiritual practitioner who works with clients who experienced a faith or religious tradition from a conservative/dogmatic/problematic perspective that has caused significant spiritual trauma. Trying to navigate, heal and possibly reconcile what spirituality, faith, or religion means to a client now can be a challenging process, especially because it can be connected to a client's overall emotional/mental wellness. I have a significant amount of experience working with clients from various spiritual and/or religious backgrounds and hold an expertise in the Christian tradition.
I truly look forward to connecting with you.
