I have been working in the behavioral health field for 20 years. Out of those 20 years, the first 5 years I provided direct care to those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The next 6 years consisted of providing community-based services to adults diagnosed with Major Depression, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia. Following that, I spent 2 years working on inpatient adult psychiatric units. For the last 8 years, I have provided indirect care by coordinating inpatient behavioral health admissions.
While in my my master's program, during my praticitum,I had the opportunity to work with pediatrics and adolescents diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder, Mood Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, and Major Depression in an outpatient setting. In addition to that, my internship gave me the opportunity to work with Substance Use disorders. I worked with adults diagnosed with Co-Occurring Disorders in an outpatient setting.
I earned a BA in Psychology from Saint Louis University and my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist. Currently, I am a counselor in training and enjoy working with teenagers and adults. While working with clients, I rely on techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Using a variety of techniques during the sessions allows me to help clients navigate their paths to a better quality of life.
