Here at Simply Redefining owner and lead therapist, Janelle Thompson seeks to empower and shift the narrative of mental health for Christian women of color and couples by helping them heal their trauma and develop tools to sustain them in their everyday life. Using a faith-based, integrative, culturally sensitive approach Janelle strives to create a safe, empowering, and challenging atmosphere where all her clients can gain awareness, unpack their trauma and heal. Simply Redefining is all about transforming your hardest moments into strength, grit, and purpose. Janelle specializes in areas such as loss and grief, postpartum depression, trauma, and life transitions. Janelle also provides couples therapy utilizing the Gottman model teaching couples how to build and maintain healthy relationships.
Janelle received her Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Nyack College Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in New York and a Bachelor of Science degree at SUNY Old Westbury, where she studied Public Health. Janelle is licensed in the state of New Jersey and New York.
