Description
In my practice I utilize an integrative approach to therapy which draws from several therapeutic orientations. It consists of a multicultural framework, acknowledging that one's problems can stem from overlapping circumstances and variables, beyond our personal experiences, to include our social cultural and environmental realities and the current state of our society. This interrelationship can have a profound influence on our perception of ourselves, others, and our current situation.
As a mixed race, Black and Japanese woman, I know what it's like to feel disconnected from your culture, to question who you are and struggle to find your place in the world. My background puts me in a unique position, that I'm able to help clients with various forms of identity struggles, dealing with microagressions and those longing for a sense of a psychological home, or wanting to feel healthier or happier, more satisfied, or complete in life.
