Difficult relationships with parents, feeling left out or unwanted in friend groups, stress/pressure related to higher education/career as experienced by minority women, depression, anxiety, encounters with racism and other cultural experiences, dealing with the incarceration of a loved one and trauma are some of the things I support clients through. We'll take a loop at how these experiences impact you--how you think of yourself, your ability to thrive and your relationship with yourself and others. From there, we will replace negative thoughts, reframe negative interpretations and implement positive behavioral skills to create and maintain positive mood, healthy relationships. We can also improve ability to identify triggers, understand how the past affects and informs the present, improve ability to regulate, self-esteem, assertiveness and uncover family patterns/trauma that impact you and implement new behavior patterns.
I use techniques like CBT/DBT, Humanistic Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, activity scheduling, and mood tracking. My clients build self-confidence, develop autonomy, communicate effectively, develop emotional resilience, repair irrational thinking, increase interpersonal effectiveness and stop repeating frustrating patterns.
I approach therapy as a collaborative dynamic aimed at accomplishing cognitive, emotional and behavioral goals through building trust, respecting and honoring individual needs, and supporting appropriate growth and development. I embrace LGBTQ+ and BIPOC identities and address the impact of homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, patriarchy & more.
