Here's a secret! In therapy, you are the expert in the room, yup YOU! You are the expert of your life story... no one else. My role is to offer guidance when the road gets dark and remind you that you are not alone. Together, we'll find the best way to approach your individual circumstance. The word "Sankofa" reminds us that it's ok to reflect on the past... in fact, it is one of the bravest things you can do. I am an Art Therapist and I incorporate the neurobiology of trauma (brain science) in creative ways to help you write the life story you want. BTW you don't need any art skills in an art therapy session!
I specialize in working with women who have experienced trauma as a child and/or as an adult. I want to know what happened to you and what support(s) you need. Therapy is your space to focus on how life events have impacted you and your ability to "show-up" as your best self. We will talk about how you can become a priority in your life.
I encourage those that I work with to not be limited by the boxes folks try to put you in. I meet people where they are and walk with them to where they dream. Holding space is the most powerful and loving thing that we can do for another person. We all want to be supported not saved, heard not told, and feel valued.
