Dr. Jacqueline Benson is a dedicated clinical psychologist based in California. With a rich educational background, she holds bachelor’s degrees in both music performance and human development from California State University Long Beach and earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in 2018. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Benson is a passionate performing artist and proudly serves on the board of The Quinan Street Project, a non-profit organization that brings theater arts education to public schools in West Contra Costa.
Dr. Benson brings a wealth of experience in providing both individual and group psychotherapy. She specializes in strength-based therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, and offers tailored support for performers, content creators, and artists. As a member of the counseling & wellness team at Deeper Than Color, she is committed to delivering social justice-oriented psychotherapy, particularly to Black women and other people of color.
I look forward to connecting with you! My approach is integrative, blending diverse evidence-based practices to empower you in your mental health journey. I believe in the importance of collaboration, where your voice and experiences are central to the therapeutic process. Listening and truly understanding your story is crucial to me. I work extensively with Black clients, LGBTQIA+ clients, and individuals from various backgrounds. My training in human development informs my practice, helping you to identify and understand your challenges, and set meaningful goals.
